New Leadership Delivering Results For Arizona
I'm a retired Senior Deputy Probation Officer (DPO) from Santa Barbara County, CA. As a DPO, I have been a Court Hearing Officer, Investigator for the courts, Electronic Monitoring & County Parole Officer and I filled in as the acting Director of the Counseling and Education Center (Probation School for students removed from the traditional school programs). As a private contractor, I taught Use of Force, Unarmed Defensive Techniques and Arrest and Control to other departments and provided “in house training” for my department. I developed, received state certification, and taught classes on report writing, and a class called “Employment Needs for Ex-Felons”. This class was taught to management personnel at Santa Barbara County Department of Social Service to instruct and supervise line staff in servicing clients recently released from long term detention.
Much of my caseload experience has been with gangs, where I was assigned with the "Multi-Agency Integrated System of Care" (M.I.S.C.). There I worked with Mental Health, the Schools, the Department of Social Services and with GST, Gang Suppression Teams.
After retiring in December 2005, I relocated to Arizona and love it. I’ve been in small business since and have been a part of local politics since 2009.
As a member of the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce I served as the vice chair of the Civic Affairs Committee. During this period, I served as lead with our input and modifications to the Surprise False Alarm and Pawn Shop Ordinances. The Director, Dave Moss and I developed a business training program, "Business Builders" intending to have it implemented in the schools as an extracurricular program. It is designed to teach our children how to develop, build and run their own business from the ground up. Rosefield Charter Schools offered it and after several introductory classes, introducing marketing and product development, I supervised weekly classroom instruction and “business meetings” with students, producing and marketing their own Fresh Roasted Coffee with their school label they designed.
Currently, I am a licensed Realtor® with 5 years’ experience, a father and husband living in Peoria, Arizona. I served in the USAF from 1980 to 1984 with the Tactical Air Command, "Home of the Flying Tigers".
I believe my experience working with people on the streets, in the court room, in the classroom, as an instructor and with business, has given me a unique perspective on those within our government agencies and those they are to serve. I have witnessed horrors people should not have to go through, failures of government and the impact they have on communities and tax payers alike.
I hope my story will provide you with enough to give me the opportunity to serve you as your next Arizona State Representative for Legislative District 21 (LD 21).
